One of the ugliest rumors currently being bandied about is that the Philadelphia Eagles are interested in signing Brett Favre after trading Kevin Kolb.
That bit of nastiness is hot Internet fodder right now. CBS Sports columnist Ray Ratto had a field day with the news. He did some digging after hearing that the Eagles were toying with the idea that Favre might be a great backup/mentor for Michael Vick.
According to Ratto, the Eagles dismissed that line of thinking with “great vigor and verve” immediately, considering it so noxious that they quickly nixed it before it could “marinate in the sun” for a moment longer.
FOX Sports guy Jay Glazer, also hot to discover if there was any truth to the rumor, spoke with two Eagles sources who gave an “emphatic no” when asked if they were targeting the thrice retired QB of former Packers, Jets and Vikings fame.
Another bullet dodged. Carry on …
