George Clooney and Julia Roberts were co-chairman and chairwoman of this year’s Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met’s annual party of the year has become Hollywood’s excuse to invade New York City.

Hostess Anna Wintour, Vogue editor, presided over the event. This year’s theme – Superheros: Fashion and Fantasy, marked the opening of a fashion exhibit of the same title, which features movie costumes, avant-garde haute couture and high performance sportswear.

Bedecked in an elaborately padded, silver sequined gown, Wintour, who said she was dressed as the “X-Men” character Storm, quipped “I control the weather.” And a fabulous job she did, indeed. The weather was beautiful as guests including Tom and Katie Cruise, John Mayer, Giorgio Armani, Donald and Melania Trump, Sarah Silverman, David and Victoria Beckham, John Bon Jovi, Isaac Mizrahi, Gisele Bundchen, Tom Brady and Vera Wang arrived.
