Sherri Shepherd has been courted by the hit reality show Dancing with the Stars to sign on for Season 13, slated to premiere on September 19, 2011.
She had to turn down the Hollywood offer for a couple of very good reasons. Currently on a work hiatus from her talk show co-hosting duties, she’ll be getting married later this month and will then be heading back to New York City for the mid-September premiere of The View.
Fans of the funny woman will get to see her dance in a slightly different context. It turns out she and her bridesmaids have been training with a professional choreographer to produce the ultimate wedding dance video of the viral variety.
Shepherd appeared over the weekend doing her stand up routine at the Gotham Comedy Club in NYC. She pulled a few of her bridesmaids onto the stage for a sneak peek at the dance routine. We checked for a YouTube upload but no such luck. Looks like we’ll have to wait for the command performance at the wedding.
The DWTS contestant ‘formula’ for determining an appropriate mix of celebrities usually includes a senior citizen and a comedian. Regis Philbin announced on his show that he has been asked to fill the geriatric slot. Previous oldies have included Florence Henderson and Buzz Aldrin.
Shepherd’s very good friend and bridesmaid Niecy Nash did well on DWTS in 2010, hanging on until the seventh elimination show.
