Singer Robin Thicke was arrested Friday afternoon in New York City for possession of marijuana.

Police say the 34-year-old was arrested in Manhattan near Madison Square Park after he was observed lighting up a joint inside his black SUV.

Thicke was reportedly cooperative throughout the embarrassing ordeal and even signed a couple of autographs. He is the son of actor Alan Thicke and singer Gloria Loring.

He was issued a desk appearance ticket and released shortly thereafter.

The musician appeared earlier in the week on Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform two songs from his recently released R&B album Love After War.
