Baylor’s Superman Robert Griffin III won the 77th Heisman Trophy Award and he was wearing the socks to prove the point.

The junior quarterback became the first Baylor player to win college football’s most prestigious honor on Saturday night.

When he heard his name announced he admits, “My heart was beating really, really hard. I could feel it in my chest like they all said.”

He tried to be humble but allowed himself a pat on the back during his remarks, “This is unbelievably believable. It’s unbelievable because in the moment we’re all amazed when great things happen. But it’s believable because great things don’t happen without hard work.”

During his post-win news conference he quipped, “If I can get everybody in the crowd to laugh it can make my speech a whole lot easier.” This was a reference to his blue and red socks with the Superman symbol on the front.

Griffin received 405 first-place votes and 1,687 points. He beat out Andrew Luck, the senior quarterback from Stanford who received 247 first-place votes and 1,407 point.
