Oprah is at it again. We’ve all seen the TV talk show host dole out fabulous gifts to members of her studio audience in the wildly popular segment called Oprah’s Favorite Things – with gifts ranging from comfy pj’s to automobiles.
She took the favorite things segment on the road this year and surprised an audience in Macon, Georgia with the windfall of spectacular giveaways as part of her ‘Towns across the United States’ series. Gifts ranged from mixers, notebook computers, cookie jars, makeup, satellite radios, umbrellas, clothing and the list goes on and on.
The great thing about the give away is that everyone in her audience gets each of the gifts. How they tote them away remains a mystery. The items are things that Oprah owns and loves. She gets showered with freebies all year long from manufacturers who would love to be named in her favorite things segment. Those that make the grade reap the benefits of people who will purchase Oprah’s favorite brand of furry slippers after watching the show.
The town of Macon spent $20,000 sprucing up City Auditorium in preparation for the arrival of Harpo Productions. Oprah has reported offered to reimburse the city for part of those renovations.
The favorite things segment was taped on Saturday and will air on Tuesday. Consider it ‘must see TV’.
