2010 Christmas in Washington concert …
Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, along with their daughters Malia and Sasha and their maternal grandmother Marion Robinson, have been attending any number of Christmas concerts and events in the past few days.
The president missed the ceremonial arrival of the White House Christmas tree, but watched from an upstairs window with an ice pack on his mouth – several hours after received a dozen stitches on his lower lip – graphic pics here.
Last night the group attended a star-studded holiday concert at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C. The entertainment for this year’s Christmas in Washington was kicked off by a very pregnant Mariah Carey, who reported that it was “an honor” to be invited to perform before the First Family.
Funny woman Ellen DeGeneres hosted the event. She began by welcoming “the president, Mrs. Obama, family, friends and security that patted me down too much. I think we all know why I am here — because Oprah is in Australia.”
She delighted the audience when she reported: “I have some bad news. I’ve just been told that Santa’s naughty-and-nice list has shown up on WikiLeaks.”
Italian tenor Bocelli was the special guest performer who sang White Christmas.
The TNT special will air at 8 p.m. ET Friday night.
