An NBC late night executive has offered up an apology to Michele Bachmann for the musical-diss that occurred as she joined Jimmy Fallon on stage the other night.
Her introduction was to the strains of Lyin’ Ass Bitch by Fishbone, courtesy of the show’s house band, The Roots.
Doug Vaughn reached out privately to make amends for the band’s choice of music that was blasted across the airwaves as the Republican presidential candidate made her entrance onto the set with Fallon, but not until after Bachmann provided some morning-after soundbites.
The candidate told reporters, “This is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite but it’s also sexism as well. This wouldn’t be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama. It shouldn’t be tolerated if it’s a conservative woman, either.”
In his followup letter to the politician, the NBC exec called the song choice “not only unfortunate but also unacceptable.” He further indicated that Fallon’s band had been “severely reprimanded.”
Bachmann accepted NBC’s apology and has since shared a lengthy cordial conversation with Jimmy.
