Last night during the week four Dancing with the Stars elimination show, host Tom Bergeron shared video footage of Melissa Gilbert being treated for a head injury.
The accident occurred on Monday night while the celebrity contestant was performing a paso doble routine with her pro partner Maks Chmerkovskiy.
During a move where he lowered her to the floor she banged the back of her head and he can be heard uttering, “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.”
After they appear before the judges for their critique and scores, she experienced dizziness and was lightheaded.
As seen in the video footage, medical personnel attend to her in the Red Room. Gavin DeGraw scoops her up and carries her down the back stairs where she is put on a stretcher and tended to by EMT workers before being transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital.
She later tweeted, “I’m alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of.”
Gilbert missed Tuesday night’s show but watched it from home. She was devastated by the elimination of The View co-host Sherri Shepherd and tweeted afterward, “Truly stunned that @SherriEShepherd & @iamValC r eliminated. If they can go any of us is fair game! This makes my head hurt even more.”
