Nightmare moment for recording artist…
American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina messed up the National Anthem on live television prior to the NFL kick-off between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving.
The 17-year-old let her nerves get in the way of delivering what she had hoped would be a flawless rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner during a nationwide broadcast on FOX.
Instead she faltered with the words, trailed off and actually went silent before tentatively picking up the song again. The good news is she finished strongly.
Later she tweeted, “I’m not a robot. I have no excuses. I messed up. You know, what can you do. At least I didn’t fall down.”
She is certainly not the first to mess up the song while performing before a sold-out stadium crowd, while millions more watched on television.
For the record, the Packers remain undefeated with a 11-0 record, beating the Lions 27-15.
