A last minute scheduling change on the Eastern Seaboard has some Kenny Chesney fans up in arms. A concert that was slated for Sunday at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts has been moved up to Friday night–a nearly unheard of scenario.
The country singer has a planned private gig slated for Thursday night in Boston, followed by an open day on the schedule before performing back to back concerts on Saturday and Sunday at the same venue.
Citing the threat of Hurricane Irene, Chesney and his entourage have decided to move Sunday’s concert up by two days. That may be all well and good for ticket holders who have nothing else going on Friday night, but those that can’t do Friday are hot under the collar over this turn of events.
There has been a firestorm of criticism on Kenny’s Facebook page, with many fans offering up their tickets for sale. Most wonder why the tour date wasn’t moved out, the normal practice, rather than in.
Chesney posted this statement on his website, “I want the last weekend of the ‘Goin’ Coastal’ Tour to be a great experience for everybody. But I also want it to be the safest experience for everyone.”
In light of the recent tragic stage collapse in Indiana, most fans can understand the need to keep the crowd safe.
Opening for KC will be Billy Currington and the Zac Brown Band. Those unable to attend the Friday night performance will be offered a refund at the point of purchase.
