No destination wedding in January for this couple …
After experiencing a change of heart or having too much on her plate, Dancing with the Stars pro Karina Smirnoff will NOT be heading off to the Caribbean in early 2012 to wed MLB player Brad Penny.
The ballroom dancer and her Detroit Tigers fiance announced their engagement a year ago and shared their plan to gather with family and friends for a destination wedding that was to have occurred on January 21, 2012.
According to Karina, their schedules are too hectic to warrant a marital commitment at this time. They are reportedly still together despite the setback in their relationship. Keeping it positive, the gorgeous dancer told Us Weekly, “It doesn’t matter how it’s going to be. Whatever we decide it’ll be great.”
Smirnoff was previously engaged to DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. That relationship ended in 2009.
Could it be that Smirnoff anticipates that she and her celebrity dance partner J.R. Martinez will win season thirteen and be called upon to do a publicity tour? That would be our guess.
The popular contestant has proven to be a skilled dancer and he has a compelling story that has resonated with viewers. The Army veteran suffered severe burns over 40 percent of his body and is heavily favored to take home the Mirrorball trophy.
