Julian Lennon, 47, and his mother Cynthia Lennon, 71, helped to unveil the European Peace Monument in Liverpool to honor the late John Lennon on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
The $350,000 18-foot structure was erected to celebrate one of pop music’s most influential singers and songwriters of all time.
Julian told the gathered crowd: “I think most things have been said. We come here with our hearts to honor dad and to pray for peace and say thank you to each and every one of you and everyone involved in the celebrations today.”
John was married to Cynthia from 1962-1968 and Julian was born to the union in 1963. The couple divorced and he went on to marry Yoko Ono in 1969. Sean Lennon was born to that union in 1975.
The former member of the Beatles was gunned down in front of his New York City apartment building at age 40 in 1980.
