Rumors have been swirling for days that 25-year-old Jeremy Greene, a songwriter and R&B singer from Maine, is Lindsay Lohan‘s new ‘boyfriend.’ Greene is setting the record straight.
Life & Style Weekly reported that the two were seen together at the Four Seasons Hotel in NYC when someone asked, “Lindsay, who is that guy?” And she said, “He’s my new boyfriend!”
In an interview with Star magazine, Jeremy says he is NOT Lindsay’s new boyfriend and actually turned down her advances in her hotel room.
“We went shopping early in the evening, just the two of us – but I stayed mostly in our SUV because the paparazzi were already onto her. And after we returned to the hotel, we ended up going out to dinner separately, because I just didn’t want to get caught up in all the frenzy.”
He met up with Lindsay again in her suite at 11 pm. “We chilled out together for about an hour, before I left to stay with a friend on Long Island,” says Jeremy, who admits Lindsay was in a romantic mood that evening – but he insists: “I’m a gentleman and I’m not just gonna hook up with anyone like that.”
Jeremy got a lift home to Maine on Jan. 29 – but now he’s being swamped with press reports about his alleged love affair with Lindsay.
Setting the record straight, Jeremy tells Star: “Lindsay is a good person who means well, and I love her family dearly. But sometimes she has a habit of losing touch with reality – and I’m not one of those typical guys who have tried to take advantage of her.”
So what are Greene’s ties to Jessica Simpson?
Jeremy is a recording artist with Interscope/Sreamline Records and is managed by Jessica’s dad, Joe Simpson. Lindsay’s sister Ali is apparently trying to break into the music biz, and her mom Dina, liked Jeremy’s music and asked him to come to Long Island in early November to take part in a Lohan family reality series pilot they were shooting.
Jeremy was in L.A at the time and flew in. Lindsay wasn’t there, and it wasn’t until some time just before Christmas that the two finally met. According to Greene, they hit it off and have been talking “at least twice a week” since then.
Jeremy’s Myspace profile says he is from Winslow, Maine. He describes a troubled childhood where his father left, and his mother struggled with substance abuse. He used music to escape his harsh reality and decided to pursue his dream of becoming a singer.
He aspired to make music an outlet for his emotions, thoughts and beliefs. “One night I prayed for the power to express myself through songwriting. I woke up at 4am and wrote my first song.”
Welcome to your life under a microscope Jeremy.
