In an eleventh hour decision, Jennifer Hudson has been asked to perform a Whitney Houston tribute at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards broadcast live on CBS.

According to the show’s executive producer Ken Ehrlich: “We are all pretty devastated, it hit us pretty hard. We were in the middle of our rehearsal and the news started going around. As you know she was very closely associated with the Grammys, both as a performer and as a Grammy winner.”

“It’s a very sad day for us and it’s going to be tough to recover from. But we go on with the show.”

Houston was nominated for 26 Grammy Awards and won six times from 1986-2000: Saving All My Love For You, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, The Body Guard original soundtrack album, I Will Always Love You, and It’s Not Right But It’s Okay.
