Over-served and apologetic …
It has been a very busy weekend for Jake Owen. We reported in an earlier post that he married Lacey Buchanan early this morning but that is only part of an eventful weekend.
It turns out Owen was detained by an Indian River County Sheriff’s deputy early Sunday morning after his Cinco de Mayo celebrating took a bad turn.
The officer spotted a mystery perp wearing an old man mask and dancing outside the window of a Steak ‘n Shake restaurant. The guy in question turned out to be Owen, who was promptly cuffed and stuffed into a squad car.
According to Florida law Section 876.13, it is a crime to conceal your identity by wearing a mask while on public property.
Once the deputy determined that Jake was just an innocent dude partying after a gig at the Space Coast Music Fest in nearby Melbourne, Florida, he was released.
That wasn’t the end of the story. The country singer hit Twitter to vent with a number of poison tweets that have since been deleted. They included: “You give a guy a gun and a badge and he thinks he’s John Wayne.”
After sobering up Owen felt the pangs of remorse and hit Twitter once again: “Y’all I apologize. The Sheriff was doing his job. I had too good of a time on Cinco de Mayo. I want to publicly apologize again for bringing to light a situation that I overreacted to.”
Twenty-four hours later he got hitched – photos here.
