Ike Turner, most famous for his marriage and recording career with Tina Turner, has died in his home in San Marcos, CA, at age 76.
A statement issued by Scott Hanover of Thrill Entertainment gave no further details on the cause of death.
Ike married Tina (Sandra Mae Bullock) in 1958. The duo had seven top 10 R&B songs, won a Grammy in 1972 for their song Proud Mary, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
Ike Turner was again awarded a Grammy earlier this year for his album Risin’ with the Blues.
After divorcing in 1976 Ike Turner became addicted to cocaine and watched his former wife rise again to fame amid allegations of spousal abuse during their marriage.
TMZ was unable to reach Tina Turner for a comment.
