After three weeks of rehearsals it was show time last night when ABC kicked off its thirteenth season premiere of Dancing with the Stars.
Chaz Bono and his pro partner Lacey Schwimmer, the last pair to take the dance floor, performed a Cha-Cha-Cha to Dancing in the Street.
The 42-year-old, the oldest child of the late Sonny Bono and singing icon Cher, has caused a stir with some fans because of his decision to undergo a sex change operation.
The judges awarded Bono middle of the pack scores and positive feedback. His fiancee Jennifer Elia, emotional after the performance, cried from her seat in the audience.

Cher turned to her Twitter page to do a little parental bragging, “WOW! HOW GREAT WAS MY SON? … HE’S A WINNER !! I Was So Nervous.”
