The remaining seven contestants on Celebrity Apprentice were tasked this week with creating a Macy’s in-store display and signature slogan for the new cologne Success by Trump.
Aubrey O’Day served as project manager for Team Unanimous with Arsenio Hall and Theresa Giudice as her underlings.
Team Forte idea man Penn Jillette pushed the leadership role to Clay Aiken claiming this was out of his realm but that didn’t stop him from commanding the entire effort with Lisa Lampanelli and Dayana Mendoza rounding out the group.
Jillette came up with the idea of photographing the former Miss Universe holding a bottle of the fragrance while resting her head on the chest of a male model sporting a shirt and tie from the Trump collection.
The decision squad from Macy’s liked the photo of Dayana and the takeaway materials and fragrance strips that O’Day’s group incorporated into their in-store display. Aubrey and Arsenio’s slogan ‘Always Trust Your Instincts’ was a direct quote from the man himself. That savvy move tipped the scales in their favor.
Trump was so impressed with the efforts of the seven on his behalf that he doled out $40,000 to O’Day for her charity and gave $10,000 to each of the remaining contestants for their charity.
Clay Aiken brought Penn and Dayana back to face Trump in the boardroom. It was no surprise that Mendoza escaped the wrath of The Donald, a clear indication that he has no intention of sending his beauty queen protege home before he is totally backed into a corner.
If the remaining contestants suspect that there is more to the relationship between Trump and Dayana they are smart enough not to utter a hint of it in front of the cameras.
In the end Penn fell on the sword for coming up with the product slogan ‘You Earned It’ that the Macy’s gang found to be pompous. It could easily have been the end for project manager Clay Aiken but it seems pretty clear that Trump sees him in the finale.
