After a three year break from touring, Bruce Springsteen officially announced that he and his E Street Band will be traveling throughout the US and Europe in 2012.

The Boss is “incredibly excited” about getting back on the road. His website indicates that the new music is almost done and they have not yet come up with a title for the upcoming series of concert engagements.

“The European dates run from the middle of May until the end of July and are being announced this week. Info on the US dates and the world tour dates will be coming up shortly.”

Springsteen signed his first record deal in 1972. The veteran rocker, 62, has kept a low profile since the early 90’s, moving his family to New Jersey so they could enjoy a relatively normal life.

He and his band performed the half-time show in 2009 for Super Bowl XLIII. That same year the musician received a Kennedy Center Honors award, presented to him by Barack Obama.

Shortly thereafter Rolling Stone magazine named the entertainer one of eight ‘Artists of the Decade’ spanning 2000-2009, a time period over which he ranked fourth among artists in total concert grosses.
