For the last few weeks Brooke Mueller has been planning a trip to Cancun, Mexico for a controversial form of rehab. That has all change and within the last 72 hours she has entered an inpatient facility located in the U.S.

The treatment facility in Mexico uses ibogaine to stop opiate cravings. The drug, illegal in the United States, is a hallucinogen that gives the user elevated mood, a sense of calm and euphoria, as well as intellectual and emotional clarity.

She has had two failed attempts while trying to get to Mexico. She was booted from one flight after becoming extremely agitated, and on the second try, she forgot her passport and never made it past the gate.

Rumor has it that Brooke saw these two debacles as a sign not to go to Mexico.

The location of her whereabouts is not know but those close to Mueller say this is a big step. Until now she has resisted anything but outpatient treatment because of her twin sons Max and Bob. Her outpatient care providers have been adamant that she needs a full blown 24/7 program for an extended period of time.

Will ex-husband Charlie Sheen get short-term custody of his boys? We’re guessing that Brooke’s mother, who has been looked upon as the primary caregiver by the courts, will continue in that capacity.
