Beyonce sat down last week for a 20/20 interview with Katie Couric, responding for the first time to allegations that her pregnancy and baby bump are fake.
The songstress made a big splash announcement that she and husband Jay-Z were expecting their first child, showing off her expanding belly during the August MTV telecast of the Video Music Awards.
Everyone bought into the pregnancy until October, when Beyonce made an appearance on the Australian talk show Sunday Night HD. While taking her seat it appeared that her stomach bunched up, leading many to believe that the entertainer had padded her stomach.
The YouTube clip was played by millions and only helped to fuel suspicions. Beyonce’s camp remained mum on the subject except for one soundbite by a rep who called the assertion “stupid, ridiculous and false.”
Many jumped on the fraud bandwagon, believing that the singer was just fronting the pregnancy process and that she was actually paying a surrogate to carry her child to term.
Friday night Beyonce finally addressed the padded baby bump drama, “You know, there are certain things that are so far out, it doesn’t even effect me. I’m cool. It doesn’t bother me.”
It may not bother the singer but momma Tina Knowles and sister Solange were outraged. Beyonce told Couric, “My mom is like, ‘Nobody’s talking about my grandbaby! My grandbaby’s not even here yet!’ I was like ‘Calm down, mom! It’s okay!’ My mom and sister are so protective.”
Former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland accidentally spilled the news regarding the gender of the couple’s baby last month. Oops!
