Prelim findings released by Winehouse family …
According to a preliminary toxicology report, Amy Winehouse had no illegal substances in her system at the time of her death. The family released the results of the test in a statement.
“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death. Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.”
The statement continued, “The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigation and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.”
Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment on July 23rd at the age of 27. She struggled for years with a debilitating addiction to drugs and alcohol.
At her funeral, Mitch Winehouse stood before mourners and claimed in a eulogy that his daughter was clean and sober in the days leading up to her death.
Janis Winehouse told a different story about her last lunch with Amy, the day before her death. She indicate her daughter was in a fog and “seemed weary.” Her gut feeling was that it was “only a matter of time.”
