Iconic daytime soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live will broadcast their final episodes in September 2011 and January 2012 respectively.
According to an announcement posted on the ABC website: “The series’ will sunset in a manner that honors viewers long standing hopes and the shows’ creative legacies.”
The face of daytime television is about to change with the launch of two new shows that are informative, authentic and center on transformations.
The Chew will be a one hour series focused on food from every angle — as a source of joy, health, family ritual, friendship, breaking news, dating, fitness weight loss, travel adventures and life’s moments. Sharing the hosting duties will be Mario Batali, Clinton Kelly, Carla Hall, Michael Symon and Daphne Oz.
The Revolution will be a daily show about health and lifestyle transformations. A team of experts and rotating guest contributors will cover family, food, style, home design, finance and more. One segment will feature a woman’s five-month weight loss journey that will unfold in just five days with the final transformation reveal each Friday. Regular co-hosts will include Tim Gunn, Harley Pastemak, and Kimberley Locke.
Veteran actress Susan Lucci, 64, signed on as Erica Kane when All My Children debuted in 1970. She will have 41 years under her belt when the show folds in September — an entire career spent on the same show. Amazing!
