Shonda Rhimes and the Scandal writers are sure doing their best to make a case for Jake Ballard to be the one who steals Olivia away from Fitz.
On Scandal Season 4 Episode 2, Jake made Olivia an offer she absolutely could not refuse: He would be available for booty calls, but on one condition.
She has to come to him.
Way to make the next play hers, Jake!
It makes sense. He knows she’s (most likely) in love with another man. He knows that man is unavailable to her. Since they’re no longer “Standing in the sun” together on a remote island, he’s not standing around waiting for her to see that he’s the right choice.
He’s going to be proactive in making her see that by playing hard(er) to get!
Instead of being a kept man, Jake gets a hotel suite (instead of going back to his own apartment…) and says that any time Olivia wants a booty call, he’ll answer. When she calls him up and tells him to come over, he declines her invitation, which probably sends her into a fit of sexual frustration.
Two points, Jake!
Huck and Quinn are obviously also sexually frustrated as judging by that scene in the bathroom where in the midst of shouting about how they’d like to rip each other’s teeth out their body language said they’d like to rip each other’s clothes off. That is one weird relationship but I almost don’t even care how weird it is because those two play so well together.
Cyrus is also sexually frustrated, but more than that he’s lonely. Instead of throwing himself into his relationship with his daughter (which was a mistake of a storyline since we’re not going to hear anything else about her now that James is out of the picture), he’s throwing himself into his work. This is going to set him up for a big fall if he’s not thinking fast.
He has to know that Michael the sex worker is some sort of setup. It’s D.C. He’s been in one open relationship with one man (and no, we’re not sure how many relationships he was in prior to James). He has to see that the nice looking man coming on to him in the bar isn’t actually interested in a man who might be nearly double his age.
You’re smarter than that, Cy!
The winner of the night, forever and always, give the woman an Emmy, was Bellamy Young as Mellie. She’s just knocking them out of the park as she plays a grieving mother struggling to pull herself together after such a tremendous loss.
Mellie and Mellie alone are reason enough to watch Scandal online every week just to see how amazing she is in the role.
