The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards took place Thursday, September 6, at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
One Direction won big with Best New Artist, Best Pop Video and Most Share-Worthy Video.
Other winners included Rihanna, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Coldplay, Drake, Calvin Harris, M.I.A., Skrillex, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Romeo Santos and Beyonce.
Two special guests at this year’s MTV show were 2012 Olympic gold medalists Gabby Douglas, 16, and Missy Franklin, 17.
