Sheryl Crow, 50, surprised a Las Vegas reporter recently when she revealed that she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in November 2011.
Her rep confirmed that the Grammy winning singer and breast cancer survivor has a non-malignant meningioma.
Crow said, “I worried about my memory so much that I went and got an MRI. And I found out I have a brain tumor.”
She was actually relieved for a number of reasons. “I knew there was something wrong. I haven’t really talked about it…But it’s benign, so I don’t have to worry about it.”
During a February concert in Florida, Crow messed up the lyrics to Soak Up the Sun. She joked, “I’m 50, what can I say? My brain’s gone to <expletive>.”
According to her doctor, half of the population is walking around with a meningioma but they would never know it unless they had an MRI.
Sheryl’s rep said emphatically, “She has no symptoms and everything is fine. It was a random mention during the Vegas interview. It was not meant to alarm anyone. She is doing great and is healthy and happy.”
Good news!
