Singer Elton John and husband David Furnish have been talking about expanding their family in order to provide son Zachary Furnish-John with a sibling.

John, 65, chatted with The Guardian and spoke about growing up as an only child and the downfalls, “I spent it in my room, listening to music if my parents were arguing. I think it’s difficult to be an only child, and to be an only child of someone famous.”

Elton said, “I want him to have a sibling so he has someone to be with.”

Hoping to save Zachary, now 17-months-old, from being bullied in the future, the thought is that a brother or sister could smooth over an uncomfortable situations.

“I know when he goes to school there’s going to be an awful lot of pressure, and I know he’s going to have people saying, ‘You don’t have a mommy. It’s going to happen. We talked about it before we had him. I want someone to be at his side and back him up. We shall see.”

Their child was born via surrogate mother and the proud dad couldn’t help boasting that the toddler kisses the housekeeper and plays football. Elton stated emphatically, “He’s so straight.”

The singer and Furnish wed in 2005.
