Actress Cynthia Nixon married her long-time partner Christine Marinoni on Sunday in New York, three years after they publicly acknowledged their engagement during a same-sex marriage support rally.
Cynthia’s rep confirmed the news with PEOPLE, “On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend were legally married in the state of New York. Nixon, 46, wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera.”
Nixon and Marinoni, an education activist, have been together since 2004. They have a son Max Ellington Nixon Marinoni, who was born to Christine, 45, in 2011.
The Sex and the City star is a breast cancer activist who came forward in 2008 to bring awareness and reveal her own 2006 battle with the illness.
Cynthia has two children from her previous relationship with photographer Danny Mozes, a daughter, 16, and a son, 10.
