Ted Nugent continues to feel the fallout after his “dead or in jail” remarks that referenced Barack Obama‘s reelection bid. The Army has pulled the plug on a scheduled appearance by the singer.
Nugent was slated to appear at Fort Knox Army base in Kentucky on June 23 as part of the Midwest Rock n’ Roll Express tour also featuring REO Speedwagon and Styx.
An announcement was posted yesterday on the base Facebook page: “After learning of opening act Ted Nugent’s recent public comments about the president of the United States, Fort Knox leadership decided to cancel his performance on the installation.”
The Secret Service met with Nugent on Thursday and said afterward that it resolved questions regarding comments that Nugent, a conservative activist and gun rights advocate, made during a speech at an NRA convention in St. Louis, Missouri.
The entertainer issued a statement confirming his meeting and describing it as a “good, solid, professional meeting concluding that I had never made any threats of violence toward anyone.”
