Simon Cowell may be a “hopeless boyfriend” (his words), but he is certainly a generous ex-boyfriend.

Cowell, 52, who recently split with fiancee Mezhgan Hussainy, 39, gave her an $8 million parting gift in the form of a Beverly Hills mansion.

“I don’t blame her,” the X-Factor mogul said of the broken engagement, adding he believed she should be compensated. “When you make a promise to someone, you have to support her.”

Cowell made good on his promise, providing for all of Mezhgan’s material needs and transferring ownership of his hill-top mansion in Cole Place, Beverly Hills to her.

Simon and Mezhgan met on the set of American Idol in 2002, when she was doing makeup for the show. They began seeing each other in 2006, while he was living with former girlfriend Terri Seymour. They went public with their romance in December 2009, and were engaged in 2010 on Valentine’s Day.

By April 2010, Cowell knew he’d made a mistake, as frequent arguments began heating up and the relationship began cracking under pressure. The couple canceled the wedding shortly after, and Cowell moved into the Peninsula Hotel in Los Angeles. They made the

Cowell told pals, “I’m attracted to crazy women. I encourage crazy behavior and I make them crazy” The Sun reports.

“I’m attracted to certain personalities who are difficult to control. So there are tantrums, tears and fights, which is all part of the drama. My life is really odd.”

“Every girl wants to be number one and they’re very territorial. I like the fight, because otherwise I’d have a dull group of girlfriends.”

And as for Cowell’s current living arrangements? He moved out of the home he gave Mezhgan a few years ago, and lives in a $12 million, 6-befroom home a few miles away.

Cowell also owns homes in London, Spain and Barbados. See photos below.
