The 22-year-old entertainer beat out an all-male field that included Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton to take home her second consecutive win in this prestigious category.
During her acceptance speech she mentioned an 18-year-old New Jersey cancer patient. “My date tonight was supposed to be a high school football player named Kevin McGuire, and he’s not here, but I promised to give him a shout out. So Keven, all your family and friends — thank you for wanting to take me to the ACMs.”
The country singer accepted The Big Help Award in Los Angeles on Saturday night during the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards. She remarked, “I’m so happy about this. I want to say to my fellow nominees in this category I respect you so much and I love you.”
