Madonna sat down with Jay Leno earlier this week to talk about her new album and the biggest gig of her life, the Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show on Sunday, Feb 5.
It’s supposed to be a secret but Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. will be featured during the 12-minute extravaganza. The pre-game entertainment will include Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton singing America the Beautiful, and Kelly Clarkson will sing the national anthem prior to kick-off.
The Material Girl admitted, “It’s the most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever done. The Super Bowl is the holy of holies. It’s like the sacred show of America. And I have to go on in the middle of that holy of holies and put on the greatest show that was ever put on before. That’s no pressure.”
There will be no time for a pre-show sound check either. “It’s a little like a circus act: Get in there, roll out my carpet, put on my show and get the eff off.”
In light of the infamous Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction some years back, Madonna assured Leno, “There will be no nipples. I don’t like to repeat myself…or do what other people have done before me.”
The performance lineup had been a closely-guarded secret until Wikipedia shared the entire playbill. Check out the leaked details:
