Wisteria Lane is about to be shaken to its very core due to the death of one of the major characters on Desperate Housewives, according to an EW.com scoop.

One of the main cast members will died in an episode currently filming in Burbank. The script details remain a closely-guarded secret. We only know that the episode will air in March with no hints about the gender of the deceased.

Production will continue to be filmed through April with the season finale slated for May 2012.

Creator Marc Cherry isn’t giving anything away but claims he has known for seven and a half years how the show would end. If you’re expecting every plot line to be resolved when the set goes dark for the last time, you’ll be disappointed.

According to executive producer Bob Daily, “We don’t want to tie up every loose end. We want it to look like life goes on, on Wisteria Lane.”

The real dilemma right now is — will one of the ladies meet an early demise or will one of their husbands bite the dust? At any rate, one actor-actress will be out of work after this week. Guesses?

Marcia Cross may have been sending a sly hint when she uploaded a photo on Twitter along with the odd sentiment, “It’s raining, it’s pouring. Life is never boring.” Check it out after the jump:
