Elizabeth Taylor‘s jewelry collection brought a record-breaking $115 million at Christie’s Auction House in New York Tuesday night.

The auction included a pearl, ruby and diamond necklace given to Taylor by Richard Burton, which was made by Cartier to display the historic pearl, ‘La Peregrina,’ which Burton paid $37,000 for in 1969.

Last night the necklace was sold for a world record price of $11,842,500.

Also included in the auction was the famed ‘Elizabeth Taylor ring,’ a 33.19 carat diamond, also given to the actress by Burton. The ring was bought by a private buyer from Asia for $8.8 million.

According to TMZ, Kim Kardashian got in on the action, paying $64,900 for a set of Lorraine Schwartz jade and diamond bangle bracelets. “Kim idolized Taylor — especially after Kim did a magazine interview with Liz for a project shortly before her death,” says a source.

Other sales of Taylor’s art, clothing and memorabilia will be held later in the week.
