Supermodel Christie Brinkley has found herself in trouble with the Internal Revenue Service to the tune of $531,720. A lien was filed against her on Nov. 21.
Christie has made a fortune over the years from modeling, infomercials, endorsements and real estate but forgot about the IRS.
The blonde beauty has been employed since she was 17, and has amassed a fortune estimated at $80 million. Under the circumstances, a half-million dollar tax debt suddenly seems like chump change.
The tax lien was filed with the Suffolk County Clerks Office in New York against her $30 million Bridgehampton, Long Island estate.
Brinkley spoke with TMZ about the situation, “I regret not paying more attention to my accounting. I was surprised to learn of the tax lien filing and took immediate steps to rectify this matter. I discovered the tax lien was the result of an error.”
The celeb wants the world to know that she’s taking care of her obligation, “My taxes will be paid in full by Wednesday, December 7th and I expect the tax lien to be released immediately thereafter.”
By way of explanation she claims, “I have been, and remain focused on my whole family as both my parents navigate serious health issues.”
Christie made her Broadway debut this year as Roxie Hart in the revival of the musical Chicago. Then it was on to London’s East End to reprise the same role.
