In late October shocking photos suggested that Robin Gibb was seriously ill. It has now been revealed that the veteran singer is suffering from liver cancer.
The British singer of Bee Gees fame was rushed to the hospital a few days ago for a second short stay within the past month. Family relatives flew in from the U.S. in a show of support, including his children from a previous marriage, daughter Melissa and son Spencer, his mother, brother Barry and sister-in-law Linda.
The singer is now at home. Brother Robin wrote about the family gathering on his blog: “We all had a great time but most of all it was the best tonic ever to be with Barry again and making plans.”
Younger brother Andy Gibb died of heart failure at age 30 in 1988 after struggling with addiction.
His twin brother Maurice Gibb died in 2003 at age 53 due to complications from a twisted small intestine. Robin revealed during a recent interview, “It is something I haven’t accepted still. He was a relatively young man and he just went all of a sudden.”
The Bee Gees were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
