The television career of Charlie Sheen just received a giant boost with the announcement that the FX Network has picked up Anger Management.

The cable network, one of three vying for the show, came out on top in a bidding war for the sitcom. The deal they struck is referred to as a 10-90. If the first 10 episodes do well the network will order another 90… a pretty sweet deal.

Charlie will play the role of the therapist, with the plot based on the Jack Nicholson character in the movie by the same name.

Sheen was ousted from top rated Two and a Half Men, replaced by Ashton Kutcher. It remains to be seen whether he can win the hearts of an audience that loved the antics of Charlie Harper.

The new AM series will premiere in summer 2012.
