Harry Belafonte, 84, has been busy promoting his new book My Song, but he missed an opportunity to talk about it last Friday when he slept through the KBAK Morning Show live satellite feed.

Bakersfield television anchor Layla Santiago set the stage for a conversation with the ‘King of Calypso’ and then greeted him, “Hey, good morning, Harry.” The camera panned, revealing Belafonte dressed in a suit and asleep in a chair with his arm across his chest.

The female anchor tried again, “Harry, wake up. Harry? Wake up, wake up. Ok…this is your wake-up call, Harry…OK, I’ll tell you what. He’s mediating. He’s taking a little nap. He’s OK. He is OK. He’s just taking a little nap, it’s a little early guys, come on.”

The persistent anchorwoman could not rouse the musician from his slumber, and as you might have guessed, the video has now gone viral.
