Four great acts, only one winner …
The season six finale of the hit NBC reality talent contest, America’s Got Talent, aired on Wednesday night. The two-hour show featured a special performance by season five runner-up Jackie Evancho.
Dropping in during the broadcast was Jerry Springer, who announced that he will serve as host at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas on October 28, 2011. The AGT winner will be the headliner, and the three remaining acts will also perform.
Performing first on Tuesday night’s show was Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., the 36-year-old jazz singer from Logan, West Virginia. He sang My Way by Frank Sinatra.
Second up was Los Angeles performers Team iLuminate, a glow-light dance group who delivered a synchronized routine with kaleidoscopic effects to Feel So Close by Calvin Harris. After the votes were tallied, this group finished in 3rd place.
Up third was Oakland, California kid band POPLYFE, who chose We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions by Queen. Following Tuesday night’s vote, they ended the competition in 4th place.
Last up was the Denver group Silhouettes, who performed a routine to the Louis Armstrong song What a Wonderful World. America voted this group as 2nd place finishers in the competition.
Who did America choose to take home the $1 million prize? The winner of America’s Got Talent season six was Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.
