Madonna has been promoting her new film W.E. at the 2011 Venice Film Festival. Dare we suggest that Madge is looking decidedly youthful … and demure?
The 53-year-old Material Girl hasn’t been showing any evidence of wrinkles in the closeup photos. In fact, she strikes us as positively stunning. Maybe there is something to be said for hanging with younger men.
The talented singer turned director spoke of the career leap, “I see myself as a story teller and don’t see it as such a big jump from songwriter to filmmaker because in the end we are all telling stories.”
She went on to say, “I am and was attracted to creative people, which is why I married Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie, who are both talented directors. They both encouraged me and were very supportive.”
Unfortunately, critics have for the most part panned W.E., calling it “extraordinarily silly” and “insubstantial.” In her defense, there were a few slightly more favorable comments. Britain’s Daily Telegraph reviewer called the royal biopic “better than expected” and “not without amusing moments.”
