An attorney for former Minnesota Viking Joe Senser announced today that it was the athlete’s wife Amy Senser who was driving the Mercedes-Benz SUV the night that restaurant chef Anousone Phanthavong was killed.
Attorney Eric Nelson issued a short news release providing the following information: “There have been many complex and overlapping issues involved in the investigation of this case which have made it inappropriate to release the name of the driver until this time.”
The statement went on to say: “Now that various legal matters have been clarified regarding the potential criminal case and civil lawsuit, it is now appropriate to disclose the driver in this incident was Ms. Amy Senser.”
The 45-year-old wife of Joe Senser has not been charged, nor has there been a plea agreement reached with prosecutors.
Jim Schwebel, attorney for the Phanthavong family, plans to file a lawsuit against Senser on behalf of the victim’s family. He said, “They want justice. They want the individual who caused the death to be held accountable.”
