The news that Danica Patrick is jumping to NASCAR shouldn’t surprise anyone, but the official announcement today by the racer and her sponsor, GoDaddy CEO Bob Parsons, allowed her to finally admit that the rumors are true.
Perhaps tongue in cheek, Patrick said, “For breaking news that will shock the world, we are excited to finally announce that GoDaddy will be taking me full-time into NASCAR next year. Very exciting. I’m just excited to finally say it.”
Danica has spent the last two season running full-time in IndyCar and grabbing a NASCAR race in the Nationwide series whenever she could work it in.
Her plan is to run eight to ten Sprint Cup events in 2012, though she fell short of committing to the marquee events–Daytona 500 or the Brickyard 400.
Patrick has some strong backing. Her Nationwide car will be owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and JR Motor Sports, and her Sprint Cup car will be owned by Tony Stewart and Stewart-Haas Racing.
When the gorgeous auto racer isn’t behind the wheel, she is likely making a commercial or modeling a sexy bikini. Our favorite photo shoot was her 2009 Shape magazine layout.
