Avery skating on thin ice after shoving the wrong guy …

Canadian hockey player Sean Avery, currently with the New York Rangers, was skating on thin ice early Friday morning after neighbors called police at 1:00 a.m. to report a noisy party in the Hollywood Hills.

When an officer showed up on the doorstep of his party pad, the NHL player exchanged a few choice words before shoved the cop back outside and slamming the door in his face.

The undaunted LAPD officer knocked again and this time cooler heads prevailed on the other side of the door.

Avery apparently settled down and became extremely cooperative. This held no sway with the officer on the beat, who took him to the Hollywood police station and booked him on a charge of battery.

According to TMZ, he is being held on $20,000 bail.
