Members of classic rock band Cheap Trick were unharmed after the stage collapsed Sunday during a severe thunderstorm while they were playing at the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest in Canada.
“The stage blew down and collapsed,” said a statement on the band’s official website. “Everyone is shaken up but the band and crew are all fine.”
“Everyone is okay and we are so lucky to be alive and hope that all the fans are okay,” the band posted on Facebook.
There are varying reports of injuries, with CNN reporting “no series injuries” and other news sources reporting at least five injured, one seriously.
According to the BBC, one man was seriously injured when a piece of the stage pierced his abdomen.
The website for the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest said that severe weather had forced the closure of all venue stages for the night following the collapse.
