What many were calling a whirlwind romance has come to a halt. Actress Scarlett Johansson, 26, and actor Sean Penn, 50, have ended their short-lived relationship.
Speculation that all was not well started when Scarlett didn’t accompany Penn to Cannes Film Festival for his movie The Tree of Life in May.
Johansson is currently in New Mexico working on The Avengers, reprising her role as the highly trained spy Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow from Iron Man 2.
The odd couple made headlines in April when they were photographed getting cozy at The White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington D.C.
The actress filed for divorce from her actor husband Ryan Reynolds in December 2010, citing irreconcilable differences. That union lasted two years.
Penn and Robin Wright divorced in July 2010 after multiple separations in recent years and a fourteen year union. Their two children were born in 1991 and 1993 and they walked down the aisle in 1996.
Both reps have declined comment at this time.
