Last night Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth was scheduled to appear on the Tonight Show but ended up being bumped to accommodate a surprise appearance by Lindsay Lohan.

Lohan’s interview with Jay Leno will air Tuesday night. The audience seemed thrilled that she was in the building. They cheered loudly and gave Lindsay a standing ovation.

It turns out that the event was orchestrated by her lawyer Shawn Holley, who is married to Dorian Holley– the lead singer of the Tonight Show band.

The troubled star spoke about her upcoming role in Gotti: Three Generations. The movie’s producer was also in the audience to show his support.

Lohan also shared details of the 120 day jail sentence handed down to her for the theft of a necklace from a Venice Beach jeweler. She called the accusation “shocking” and indicated it left her feeling “kind of numb.”

The Today Show showed a teaser video clip of Lindsay explaining that she won’t be making the same mistakes in the future. She admits: “I’m 24, I’ve made a lot of mistakes and I recognize that. I’m in the clear now and as long as I stay focused, I can achieve what I want to achieve.”

Leno asked Lohan at what point she was thinking, “Oh my God, I could lose this, this could slip away from me?” Her reply was, “I think that when, you know, being young and being in the position that I was in, you don’t really take the time to appreciate what you have and it’s all kind of a whirlwind, and people make decisions for you.”

The actress faces a June 3 trial in her grand theft charge.
