It was ‘American Week’ on the hit ABC reality show Dancing with the Stars. The remaining eight couples chose costumes and music in celebration of the good old Red, White and Blue.

At the top of the leaderboard after last night’s competition are NFLer Hines Ward and his partner Kym Johnson. In a nod to An Officer and a Gentleman, they scored 27 for their Rumba. Carrie Ann Inaba gushed: “Hines, you have the best hip action.”

There was a three-way tie of 26 points between Chelsea Kane and her partner Mark Ballas, the team of Chris Jericho and the lovely Cheryl Burke, and Romeo and Chelsie Hightower.

Team Chericho performed a Viennese Waltz and afterward, Len blurted: “Cheryl was showing off the Rocky Mountains, ” referring to her revealing costume.

Kirstie Alley and her partner Maks Chmerkovskiy didn’t fall, didn’t lose their footwear, and didn’t dazzle either. The judges, who don’t have the heart to diss the former Cheers celeb, gave them a score of 23. They performed a Fox Trot to American Woman. Chmerkovskiy wowed the ladies in the crowd with his tight leather pants and bare chest. The Russian born pro had an American flag painted on his torso.

One thing is certain… Kirstie has totally tamed Maks, who has a reputation for treating his dance partners harshly.

Three couples have landed at the bottom of the leaderboard with 22: Petra Nemcova, Ralph Macchio and Kendra Wilkinson.

Ralph and Karina’s cowboy routine fell flat with the male judges, though both agree that he definitely gets into the character. Carrie Ann disagreed and said she “loved it.”

Wilkinson, who played her Kate Gosselin diva routine to perfection last week, brought a positive attitude and a much better performance last night. Will it be enough to save her from elimination tonight?

Several of the DWTS ladies have recently posed for Playboy: dance pro Karina Smirnoff is featured in the May issue and Kendra Wilkinson was on the December cover.

Country crooner Toby Keith will perform on Tuesday night. Check out this weeks performances below:
