Tucker Carlson offended because Michael Vick is still breathing …
Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson was filling in as guest host of Fox News Hannity Show on Tuesday night. He led a panel discussion regarding Barack Obama‘s phone call to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, praising him for giving Michael Vick a second change after his federal dogfighting conviction.
Carlson said: “I’m a Christian. I’ve made mistakes myself. I believe fervently in second changes. But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did it a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should’ve been executed for that. He wasn’t, but the idea that the president of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs? Kind of beyond the pale.”
Earlier this week Lurie talked about his conversation with the president. The team owner recalled: “He was happy that we did something on such a national stage that showed our faith in giving someone a second chance after such a major downfall.”
Vick was named the NFC starting quarterback at the Pro Bowl, to be played at Aloha Stadium on January 30, 2011. He has thrown for 3,018 yards, rushed for 676 yards and is credited with 30 touchdowns in his second season since returning to action.
In a plea agreement in 2007, Vick admitted he killed dogs deemed unfit to fight in exchange for a reduced sentence of 19 months in prison.
