After serving eight months behind bars at Rikers Island jail in New York City on weapons charges, rapper Lil Wayne was set free on Thursday, Nov. 4.

Friends and family are thrilled for his return and are planning a big party. They are characterizing it as an “elegant, extravagant” evening of celebration. They believe that no party is complete without strippers to welcome Lil Wayne home properly.

Sentenced to one year–Wayne was released early for good behavior. Odd to us is the fact that he was busted by jail guards back in May with “contraband” ear buds for his iPod. At the time of the offense, Rikers officials indicated they take this very seriously. Clearly they’ve gotten over his little slip.

He isn’t the only rapper to serve time. Other notables include Tupac Shakur, Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, Shyne, Mystikal, and most recently T.I.

Lil Wayne’s legal issues are far from over. Atlanta based producer Michael ‘Mali Boi’ Braford has filed a suit against Wayne for copyright infringement.
